How to Enroll in Medicare Part B

Medicare Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, lab work, and medical equipment.

Step 1: Go to the Medicare Part B Enrollment Website

🌐 https://www.ssa.gov/medicare

This is the official Social Security website used to enroll in Medicare Part B.

Step 2: What to Do on the Website

Once on the site:

 • Click “Apply for Medicare”
 • Choose “Apply online”
 • Log in or create a my Social Security account
 • Select Medicare Part B
 • Complete and submit your application

⚠️ Important:
If you are enrolling late or leaving employer coverage, you may need Form CMS-40B.

 • Annual deductible
 • Copayments or coinsurance for services

Have these ready before applying:

 • Medicare Part A information (if already enrolled)
 • Social Security number
 • Proof of employment or employer health coverage (if applicable)
 • Form CMS-40B (if enrolling outside your Initial Enrollment Period)

 • Standard Monthly Premium: $202.90
