How to Enroll in Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A helps cover inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and limited home health services.

Step 1: Go to the Official Medicare Enrollment Website

This is the official Social Security website used to enroll in Medicare Part A.

Step 2: What to Do on the Website
Once on the site:
• Click “Apply for Medicare”
• Select “Apply online”
• Sign in or create a my Social Security account
• Follow the prompts to apply for Medicare Part A
• Review your information and submit the application

What Medicare Part A Is
• Hospital insurance
• Most people pay $0 monthly premium
Part A Covers
• Inpatient hospital stays
• Skilled nursing facility care (after a qualifying hospital stay)

Part A Does NOT Cover
• Long-term custodial nursing home care
• Routine dental, vision, or hearing services

Have these ready before you apply:
• Social Security number
• Proof of age (birth certificate or passport)
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful residency
• Employment information (if you or your spouse are still working)
