Medicare and VA Healthcare
VA healthcare and Medicare are separate systems. Medicare allows veterans to receive care outside the VA system, while VA benefits remain available for care provided through VA facilities.
TRICARE and CHAMPVA
TRICARE provides coverage for eligible service members, retirees, and their families. CHAMPVA provides coverage for spouses and dependents of certain disabled or deceased veterans. Medicare may be required to maintain these benefits, depending on eligibility.
Medicare Advantage for Veterans
Veterans may enroll in Medicare Advantage plans without losing their VA benefits. In some situations, Medicare Advantage may provide additional benefits such as dental, vision, or prescription drug coverage. I help explain when this may make sense and when VA-only coverage may be sufficient.
